About

Megan Adams is an American artist who makes her home in London, a city unique in its diversity of culture and pockets of eccentricity. Her work is influenced by its bling of the new rubbing up against the city’s ancient traditions and heritage. It makes for a lively and inspiring dynamic that energizes her imagination.

Largely sculptural, her work draws on old iconographies, myths and long told tales into which she breathes new relevance. “In much of my work, I try to reconcile old philosophies with fresh viewpoints, translating them into a modern vernacular to apply to our age. I hope they will prove a starting point for conversation.”

Her work is largely hand built with occasional wheel thrown elements. Working with stoneware and porcelain clays which she fires to cone 6-7 for greater durability. She likes to embellish her pieces with decorative slip cast molds, colored slips, mason stains, varied glazes and occasional extrusions for an exaggerated texture. Having endured for millennia as a medium of expression, clay’s familiarity makes it a challenge to bring fresh ideas and discover new techniques that will appeal to a modern viewer.
